Couples therapy involves identifying sources of dissatisfaction and distress in a relationship, such as conflict and poor communication. The focus of therapy is to develop goals and implement a plan designed to alleviate these symptoms and restore balance and intimacy to the relationship.
Family therapy involves multiple family members and is helpful in treating a number of emotional and adjustment problems. A specific problem or stressful event is often the reason for beginning family therapy, however, the ultimate goal of family therapy is to improve the interaction between all family members and enhance communication and coping skills on a long-term basis.
Group Therapy is often used in addition to individual therapy, and is designed to help individuals grow emotionally and solve personal problems. There are many types of group therapy. However, all utilize the power of the group, as well as the therapist who leads it, in this process.
